The Verb "To Be" (I am) / El Verbo "Ser/Estar"

In English, "I am" covers both "yo soy" and "yo estoy" from Spanish. It's simpler! You use "I am" (or the short form "I'm") for both identity and feelings.

En inglés, "I am" cubre tanto "yo soy" como "yo estoy" del español. ¡Es más simple! Usas "I am" (o la forma corta "I'm") para identidad y sentimientos.

Tip for Spanish Speakers

The "H" sound: In Spanish, the letter H is silent (hola = ola). But in English, H has a strong sound! "Hello" starts with a breath of air: /h/. Practice by putting your hand in front of your mouth — you should feel air when you say "Hello." El sonido "H": En español, la letra H es muda (hola = ola). ¡Pero en inglés, la H tiene un sonido fuerte! "Hello" empieza con un soplo de aire: /h/. Practica poniendo tu mano frente a tu boca — deberías sentir aire cuando dices "Hello."
