💡 The "-teen" Pattern
📚
Rule: Numbers 13–19 follow the pattern: base number + "-teen"
Three → Thirteen • Four → Fourteen • Six → Sixteen

Watch out: 11 (eleven) and 12 (twelve) are irregular — they don't follow the "-teen" pattern!
Also: 13 = "thir-teen" (not "three-teen") • 15 = "fif-teen" (not "five-teen")
🗨 Useful Number Phrases
EnglishEspañolExample
How many?¿Cuántos? How many students? — Ten.
How old are you?¿Cuántos años tienes?I'm twenty. (NOT "I have twenty years")
What's your phone number?¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono? It's 555-0123.
🇪🇸
Tip for Spanish Speakers: English says "I am twenty years old" but Spanish says "Tengo veinte años" (I have twenty years). Don't say "I have 20 years" in English! Also, "three" has the /θ/ sound (tongue between teeth) — practice this sound.
