Understand English but freeze when speaking?

The answer is not another month of silent study. It is a smaller speaking loop that your brain can repeat safely.

Why the freeze happens

Speaking asks you to retrieve vocabulary, build grammar, pronounce the sentence, and react to another person at the same time. If all your practice is recognition—watching or reading—retrieval feels much harder.

The seven-day reset

  1. Day 1: Record a 20-second introduction. Keep the first version.
  2. Day 2: Learn three useful sentence frames and say each five times.
  3. Day 3: Shadow a short audio line, matching rhythm rather than speed.
  4. Day 4: Answer one familiar question for 30 seconds.
  5. Day 5: Repeat day four with two follow-up details.
  6. Day 6: Speak with a partner or Kio using the same topic.
  7. Day 7: Record the introduction again and compare clarity, pauses, and confidence.
Measure the right thing

Do not ask, “Was my English perfect?” Ask, “Did I finish the message, and what is one change for next time?”

Keep the loop

Use one topic for several days. Familiar content reduces thinking load, so you can focus on clearer language and smoother delivery.
